ALCOHOL IS NOT A SAVIOUR

IN the wake of many news reports on mental health and the committing of suicide, some have decided not to cause or commit suicide. Yet the decision some people have taken is very perilous. Since they do not want to die, they have rather resorted to the use of depressants like alcohol to cool off or help them forget about their problems. It is against this background that Mr. Francis Nuamah of the ASSIN DZAKAI HEALTH CENTER has emphasized on COASTAL TV’s HEALTH CHANNEL on Thursday,9 March, 2017 that the abuse of alcohol can’t save one from DEPRESSION, which is currently leading to cases suicide in the country.

In his submission he stated that as a result of loneliness, broken heart, over expectation and huge forms of disappointment, people have become depressed and as a result some resulted to end their “meaningless” life. He thus stressed that those who don’t resort to suicide as last option rather use alcohol to combat these negative feelings. He therefore asked the viewers not to use alcohol to suppress pains since the sober aftermath could be perilous. He thus urged depressed family members to seek health care from a psychiatric unit of every health facility or center.

HEALTH CHANNEL hosted by Obuobi Onesiphorus airs on COASTAL TV at 8 pm on Thursdays. It is situated in the Central Region as the only Community Station in West Africa.
